EMS Development and Implementation
An environmental management system (EMS) provides a management framework which enables an organisation's environmental impacts to be managed, monitored and improved. There are a number of reasons why an organisation may wish to implement an EMS. These include meeting customer demands, complying with legislation, demonstrating corporate and social responsibility, managing environmental risks and making financial savings. Business Eco provide a range of EMS services including:
Development and implementation of a new EMS
Support to in-house staff in the development of their own EMS
Training to help you understand and maintain your own EMS
Delivery of EMS elements such as training or parts of the management programme.
ISO 14001 is an international standard that provides a recognised framework upon which an environmental management system can be developed. Business Eco has helped organisations in a variety of sectors reach ISO 14001 certification and keep it.
However, ISO 14001 may not be appropriate for all organisations. Smaller organisations or those with limited resources may like to consider the BS 8555 approach. This newer British Standard provides a phased approach to an EMS where the organisation can gain certification at any of the six levels in their own time. This step-by-step progress toward an EMS is particularly suited to organisations whose customers are conducting a programme to green their supply chain.
